Cheeky
Girls
January
is here again, but cheer up fans, it used to be a quiet time for me too, what
with the comedy circuit - of which I'm a big player - in hibernation, as well
as my street dancing exhibitions put on hold until the spring. So for the last
9 Januarys in a row I have visited the Emmerdale visitors centre. Well as a
lot of my close friends know, there is nothing I hate more than routine, so
I really shook up the system this year and joined the Evening Chronicle's trip
to Granada Studios. I had several top notch lasses lined up to take with me
on a date basis, but they all had prior committments including - watching Open
University; getting a life; might not feel well that day, etc., mind you hilariously
5 of them pretended they didn't know who I was when I rang up - it's amazing
how my sense of humour rubs off on people.
Anyway, what a great time I had - we were only 20 minutes into the tour
when the tour guide informed us that The Cheeky Girls were on the Coronation
Street set and were looking for a volunteer to help them with some publicity
shots. Well as I had on my new comedy style keyboard braces, I insisted that
I was the only credible choice.
It
was a great meeting of talents, and as you could imagine I showed them a few
new dance moves I had recently been working on. They were actually very good
dancers, any dance expert watching would probably have said they were about
71% as good as me - high praise indeed. We parted with the Cheekys pestering
me to write them their next blockbuster hit, well they were no doubt about to,
but I had to rush off to catch my bus back to Gateshead - I know I had 50 minutes
to spare, but I do like to get settled with a good wordsearch at least 35 minutes
before the bus sets off.
Anyway, you can see me back at home in songwriting mode, with my hair
done exactly like David Beckham's - probably when Posh sees this photo she'll
be bothering me to write her next hit. I haven't quite finished writing the
Cheeky Girls No.1 yet, although I have got as far as the title, 'When the Cheeky
Girls were lucky enough to meet Marc Thompson at Granada Studios.'
