Destiny's Child recently played at The Newcastle Arena, and Little Marc won a competition in the Gateshead free paper to meet them backstage. I was going to accompany him but had a prior engagement - see below. Little Marc loves them and is such a big fan that he has taped all their hits off the radio. In fact he told them backstage that his favourite 3 songs of all time are,"Survivor", "Bootylicious" and "It's 'orrible being in love when you're 8 and a half."
Destiny's Child were probably thinking of asking Big Marc and Little Marc if they wanted to do a support slot on their tour, of course we would of been flattered, but once you've topped the bill at Penrith Youth Centre, you don't want to play support to anyone.

My prior engagement was an afternoon at Castle Howard, where I had the pleasure of bumping into late 70's pop group Racey. I was taking advantage of a 'book 5 nights get the 6th free' offer at a very acceptable hotel in Pickering. Get this fans, I managed to sweetheart the chamber maid, and on two occassions charmed an extra sachet of Bourbon biscuits. For a hilarious joke, I wrote in the comments book at Reception "this place really takes the biscuit", I'm embarrassed to say I slightly wet myself pointing out my hilarious joke to guests and staff alike. The staff really took to me, and you could tell didn't want me to leave, as they kept saying "when are you going."
